1959 Lotus Seven Series 1

1959 Lotus Seven Series 1

Reluctant sale to help offset the cost of college

Well known VSCCA, VRG, and SVRA Seven campaigned for close to 30 years and competed in over 100 events, is for sale. A constant front-runner in its group the 948cc runs with Coventry Climax Sevens. My times @ LRP are in the 1:08's, NJMP Thunderbolt 1:45 and WGI 2:38. LRP, my favorite track, is just the best experience one can have, coming down the hill flat out in 4th never doubting the 7 will turn in and hold her line and catching the car in front.

More than a survivor this 7 is fun, light, turns in like magic and exits even better, and is extremely dependable. This one has all the special bits. As respected race shop owners have said, there is something special about this Lotus.

Currently has refreshed ARJAY Racing engine with 2 hours of run time (LRP Fall Vintage Festival), new block, Molodex, Carillo, Venolia, Comptune D port head, through bore SU's. Dyno sheets available. Pulls to 8000 rpm. 3 quart Accusump. Electronic Ignition.

The transmission is a Rib Case Jack Knight Close Ratio Dog Box gone through in 2007 by GMT. Trans X LSD diff with 5:31 ratio.

Coil overs at all 4 corners. Dual bearing hubs that don't leak. Fuel cell bladder replaced in 2007. FIA belts good through 2013.

Comes with a 100 % complete, ready to bolt in spare 948cc ARJAY Racing engine with dyno time only. Good for 6800 RPM. Also complete LSD 4:88 pumpkin with 1 event on it.

Additional spares include complete set of blue wire wheels with Dunlops (used), new Wilwood pedal assembly for 3 master cylinders, additional driver and passenger seating, Comptune small port head (needs valve job), pistons, rods, cams, points, caps, brake cylinders and more.

The 7 has been professionally serviced by GMT Racing of Bethel, CT and as mentioned above is well known within the Vintage Racing community. Comes with all log books, VSCCA and SVRA , along with previous owners documentation. Additional photos available.

Asking $43,000.
