New Racer?

Been doing it for many years?

somewhere in between?

Ask any vintage racer, any good mechanic or fabricator

"What is the best investment I can make in my car?"

Improve the driver!

How do you do that?

Get a good driving coach.

Where do you find a good coach?

How about being trained by an up & coming IMSA Lites racer who is a Skip Barber instructor and literally grew up in the VSCCA.

JONATHAN GORING. Son of Keith Goring and Susan Dixon of Alfas Unlimited.

From one of his biggest fans (Susan Dixon):

" Bring your car to a Tuesday Test Day or Club Day at Lime Rock (or any other track you wish). Jonathan will spend the day with you, observing your driving and the performance of the car at various points around the track. He will give you detailed and valuable explanations and feedback, verbally, written or diagrammatically. Jonathan is a wonderful teacher and has a gift for explaining complex engineering concepts in a clear and simple to understand way.

If necessary, and with your approval, he might drive your car and/or ride with you to further evaluate your techniques and the particular characteristics of the car. He will show you techniques and share valuable tips. Your lap times will improve, in most if not all cases. Most importantly, you will be enjoying your car even more than before!

POLE, TRACK RECORD, RACE WIN, AND A TRIPLED POINTS LEAD; GORING COULDN'T BE HAPPIER.

Current IMSA Lites points leader Jonathan Goring traveled cross-country from Norfolk, Connecticut, to Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, for the third and fourth rounds of the IMSA Lites series, hoping to extend his points lead even more. Despite a tough challenge by the talented Ricky Taylor, Goring snatched the pole during the final seconds of qualifying, and set a new lap record in the bargain. In the first race, Taylor got past Goring in the fourth lap, so Goring had to settle for the runner-up spot despite a valiant effort. "I knew if he came into the series Ricky would be very strong and tough to beat, so I spent a lot of time preparing for Utah and putting out a good effort," Goring said. "My engineer and I learned in practice the engine was going soft, and going soft fast. I knew I couldn't challenge Ricky, so I settled for 2nd thinking about points." In the second of the two IMSA Lites events, Taylor immediately challenged Goring again and led for several laps, but then suffered a problem in the seventh lap which allowed Goring to cruise to victory by over ten seconds.

Goring again gave credit to the great car he had from the Comprent team, and thanked the Comprent staff, especially his engineer Terry, Brandon, Kevin and the rest of the team, for another successful effort.

"I'm very happy that the trip out West went so well and we brought home the new track record. Miller is a great track, but if you make any mistakes at all you will be in trouble because this is not a track you want to fall off of in particular," said Goring. "I was pleased that things went so well for us despite our motor issues."

Next up will be the races at Lime Rock in July. Lime Rock is Goring's home track and the site of many of his Skip Barber race wins.

Goring is also the 2006 Skip Barber National Champion with plenty of wins in that series.
