1965 Porsche 356 SC

It is only original once,

1965 Porsche 356 SC - The Real Deal - these days everyone is going 'ga ga' over barn finds. Generally they are worn out but neat old cars that were abused & left for dead. Some people pay more for them than for a well cared for, real car. You can guess the opinion of this writer (yr hmble webmaster.)

# 221-209,
Color 6411, Togo Brown/Tan Vinyl
SC Motor #P 813301

This 1965 Porsche 356 SC is not one of those sad forgotten barn finds. This car was bought from Bob Grossman (Foreign Cars of Rockland, West Nyack, NY) on March 24 of 1965. It has been driven and carefully stored in a heated garage by the original owner. In 1965 there was no higher specification, proven reliable, Porsche designed for daily use & 'some fun on the weekend'  Today, for many, as the last of the 356s; the best of the 356s status is un-challenged.

This 1965 356 SC is still in the hands of its 89 year old, original owner - if you choose to become it's next caretaker - you will get to sit with Frank and he will happily recount every one of its 50,750 miles.

The only item that is needed to drive this 356 SC is a replacement spring on the turn signal switch. That is it! Ready to go - sign up for that 1,000 mile tour this Summer.

The paint & every major component is/are original, matching number, working as new; and there is little more than a few rock chips & a weak windshield rubber to separate this 356SC from the day it sat on Bob Grossman's showroom floor.

Two outside mirrors (the second installed about a week later), headrests, Fog Lights, chrome wheels and a rare wood-wheel are exactly as found on the showroom floor.

This car belongs in the Porsche Museum. Perfect margins, headliner, dashboard... Welcome to 1965. You could use this car to teach the class.

This 356SC was built in late 1964 for the 1965 year. There are five chrome wheels dated 7/64 (generally the wheel build date is about two months ahead of the actual build date of the car.) This is a factory Disc Brake car with the top pushrod motor - 95 DIN HP or about 107 SAE

Currently registered and drivable as long as there is no salt on the roads. It has had a recent Brake Job so it is ready to go...  Frank has changed tires & battery for safety & added a Blaupunkt Radio and maybe an electric fuel pump but otherwise it is exactly as Bob Grossman sold it to him in 1965. It includes the tool kit and original handbook & warranty book.

Check out the photographs and then make the time to come & meet Frank, maybe put the car up on his lift & ask your questions. But, please do not come to nickel & dime, and/or BS Frank, at 89 he does not need to waste his time with 'tire kickers'

If your humble web-master had been born rich instead of incredibly handsome - you would not be reading this ad. (It would already be parked in the barn at Windswept)

This 1965 356 SC will be sold 'as-is' where is. All information is believed by this writer to be correct but as this 356SC is 47 years old there is no warranty expressed or implied.

Do not ask for 'more photos' or other such falderal, get in the car or on an airplane and come see for yourself. (Near Bear Mountain Bridge) or at least, send a qualified inspector - contact your local PCA or 356 Registry to recommend someone.
